Mochila Introduces New Photo Slideshow Player for Publishers
Ad-Supported Widget Gives Mochila's Publisher Members Easier Access to Photos From Other Content Providers Including Getty Images and Associated Press
NEW YORK, March 6, 2008 – Mochila, the first global online media marketplace for text, photo and video content, today announced the release of its new ad-supported slideshow player. The new Mochila Slideshow Player is a widget that allows pre-created static or dynamic search related photos to be displayed in a 300x-pixel wide frame that can easily be embedded in any web page. The player will provide publishers with a customized application to feature the world's best photos from other member organizations including Getty Images and the Associated Press. The widget application also provides monetization support for publishers with in-stream 300x250 rich media ad units, as well as attached fixed display and text ad units.
Mochila is already seeing adoption of the photo slideshow player from entertainment news sites that are constantly looking for the latest celebrity photos. Mochila members Egotastic.com and CelebrityBabyScoop.com are using the widget to give their users the best celebrity images from across the Web. Member sites can access photos from various Mochila channels of content based on keyword or category criteria (e.g. a certain celebrity). Anytime the marketplace receives new photos that are tagged as being relevant for the criteria, the player dynamically updates the images onto a member site.
"We are always looking for the latest photos related to celebrities and their babies to provide the most value to our readers," said Lisa Weber, founder of CelebrityBabyScoop.com. "Mochila's new player gives us a great platform to not only access a greater database of images, but also provides us with an easy-to-use application to showcase the content."
"Widget innovations like our Photo SlideShow Player empower publishers to acquire high-quality, rights-managed images for free with ad support," said Keith McAllister, CEO of Mochila. "The application enables sites like CelebrityBabyScoop to easily drive user engagement with the freshest and most compelling content available anywhere."
Some of the other key features of the new Slideshow Player include:
- Slideshow playback of photos with pause and autoplay buttons.
- Drop down carousel thumbnail view, allowing for previewing of all images and immediate screen view of a particular photo.
- Ability to support all Mochila channels of photo content. Mochila channels are either static or dynamic related photos based on keyword and category based criteria.
- Full screen view of photos.
- Embeddable 300x pixel wide widget, allows for seamless integration into all websites.
- Photos are drawn from Mochila's vast content repository, the world's richest and freshest supply of high-quality rights-managed content.
