IDG Enters Into Agreement With Mochila to Syndicate Technology News and
Information
Global media company leverages leading syndication network for ad-supported content distribution to
dozens of sites
New York, N.Y., February 2, 2009 - Mochila, a premium content syndication technology platform and
network, and IDG are delivering multimedia news and information for consumers and tech enthusiasts to
media websites nationwide. Partnering to create a personal technology news section, Mochila and IDG
are syndicating articles, video, and photos to 44 sites starting this month. Participating sites include the
latimes.com, chicagotribune.com, and denverpost.com. The Tribune Company's Los Angeles Times and
Chicago Tribune are among the most visited newspaper sites in the country for the last three months of
2008, according to comScore.
Editorial content - from gadget and computer reviews to news for gamers and buying guides - is being
culled from IDG media brands including PC World, Macworld, Computerworld and GamePro. Media
General, serving the southeastern U.S., has signed on nearly two dozen of its newspaper and TV station
websites, including TBO.com, InRich.com, and JournalNow.com.
In addition to news sites, Topix and Imaginova's LiveScience will be integrating the IDG technology
section into their sites. Forty-four sites, with combined unique monthly visitors of nearly 40 million have
signed up to distribute IDG's technology content, powered by Mochila. Topix alone has averaged
approximately 6.5 million uniques over the past three months according to comScore. IDG's
TechNetwork sales force is selling ad space, video ads, and custom sponsorships for the syndication
program, complementing their existing network for non-IDG publishers.
"IDG's venerable brands represent the most well-respected web sites and publications in the tech space,"
said Carolyn Bekkedahl, President, Chief Revenue Officer, Mochila. "We are very excited that Mochila
will help IDG broaden its audience reach, and at the same time, share their rich content and premium
advertising with our network of top-notch publishers. It's a win-win-win."
"This partnership with Mochila adds substantial distribution for IDG's syndicated content," said Peter
Longo, CEO, IDG Syndication and Networks. "This increased reach grows IDG's connection with
readers, advertisers, and tech enthusiasts across the Internet and beyond our current audiences."
Advertising revenue will be shared between the media partner, Mochila, and IDG.
