Position TItle:	Technical Development Manager

Position Summary:

Mochila is an exciting, fast-paced venture backed media ASP. Launched in 2006, we have completed our Series B round, led by Charles River Ventures. Our online media marketplace is gaining steam and we are experiencing significant growth. We are currently looking for an all star, hands on QA manager. The position is based in San Francisco.

We're looking for a hands on Technical Development Manager who can drive technical projects and provide leadership for a group of 8-10 engineers in an innovative and fast paced environment. In this position, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of software development activities for a hosted, web-based system that is used daily by a large population of content publishers and users. The Development Manager will report to the Vice President of Engineering and Technical Operations.

The application is implemented using Java, Linux, MySQL, XML, XSLT. Candidates must have prior exposure to these technologies. The ideal candidate will bring to the team a deep knowledge of various development methodologies and project management approaches (and will possess strong problem solving skills. You must have excellent front end skills including hands on experience developing cutting edge GUIs with AJAX, Flash and the like.

The team has borrowed from various traditional and agile methodologies to craft a unique agile development process tailored to the specifics of the project.

• Build, manage, mentor and grow the development team
• Implement and improve various development processes
• Hands on contribution to key features
• Collaborate with Product Management
• Drive various release related issues to close

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands on development experience including cutting edge GUI development
• 3+ years as hands on software development manager
• Experience with Java/J2EE/JSP
• Experience with AJAX
• Experience with Flash a strong plus
• Experience with Tomcat or other servlet containers
• Proven understanding of complex application architectures.
• The candidate must have good analytical skills, be self driven and a team player
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good coaching and listening skills
• Ability to thrive in a startup environment

This position requires a BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
